Hi Melissa, when the lights go out in the fridge and the freezer at the same time, it’s rarely two bulbs failing at once. Your Whirlpool WRF767SDHZ04 uses LED lights, so I’d look for one thing that controls them all. Here’s what I’d check, starting with the easiest.
1. Sabbath or showroom mode
Many Whirlpool French-door models have a Sabbath mode that turns off the lights, the dispenser light and the alarms on purpose. It’s easy to turn on by holding a button too long while cleaning the panel. If your display looks different or the dispenser light is also off, look up “Sabbath mode” in your owner’s manual and turn it off.
2. Reset the refrigerator
Unplug it (or switch off its breaker) for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in. A control that’s “stuck” after a power blip often brings the lights back.
3. Door switches
The refrigerator uses the door switches to know when to turn the lights on. Gently press each door switch in and out a few times. If one is stuck, the control may think the doors are closed.
4. LED driver or control board
If none of that works, the likely fault is the LED light driver or the main control board, which powers the lights. That’s a repair for a technician. Make sure the refrigerator is still cooling normally, though: if it is, this is an annoyance, not an emergency.
Check your warranty first
If the refrigerator is still within its first year, Whirlpool should cover this, so call them before paying for a repair. If you bought an extended warranty with it, use that.
