❓ The question
Kenmore Washer Model 110.26132411 Age: 8–12 years

“My washer does not always want to do the final drain spin cycle”

Started 7-10 days ago. Drains, gets out of balance, re arrange what's in there still gets out of balance and just stops the cycle. This does not happen with every load

Thanks for the details, they point to a clear cause. A Kenmore model starting with 110 was built by Whirlpool, and the 110.2613 series is a direct-drive top-load washer. On this design, an “out of balance” stop that started recently and happens on some loads but not others is classic wear in the suspension.

Why it happens

The tub hangs from four suspension rods with small damper pads at the bottom. Those pads keep the tub steady when it spins up. After 8–12 years they wear out, the tub starts to wobble during the final spin, and the washer stops spinning to protect itself. Larger or uneven loads such as towels, jeans or a single heavy rug trigger it first, which is why it doesn’t happen every time.

Quick checks before buying parts

  1. Push down on one edge of the empty tub and let go. A healthy suspension stops it after a bounce or two. If it keeps swinging, or one corner sits lower than the others, the rods are worn.
  2. Check that the washer is level and doesn’t rock on the floor. Adjust the front feet and tighten the lock nuts.
  3. Load evenly. Don’t wash one heavy item alone, and fill the drum loosely around the center post.
  4. Look for a loose part. A loud bang or a scraping noise during spin points to a broken suspension rod or a loose tub component rather than plain wear.

The fix

A suspension rod kit (all four rods) is inexpensive and a common DIY repair on these washers. Replace all four at once rather than one. Unplug the washer before you start. If the tub still bangs with new rods, or the washer stops even with small loads, have a technician check the motor and the tub bearing.
