The model/serial tag is usually a printed sticker or metal plate. Common locations by appliance type:
Inside the fridge compartment, along the side wall, or behind the crisper/produce drawer.
On the edge of the door, visible when the door is open.
Inside the storage drawer at the bottom, or along the door frame.
Viking's serial number is refreshingly simple — no letter cipher, no decade guesswork. The first 6 digits are a literal date:
For example, a serial starting with "022311" was manufactured 02/23/11 — February 23rd, 2011. We've confirmed this directly against a genuine Viking rating plate showing both the serial number and a separately-printed manufacture date that match exactly.
One exception: older Viking units (mostly from the 1990s) use a different, shorter serial format that starts with a letter like "R" or "V" instead of digits. We can't reliably decode that older format from the serial alone — if your serial doesn't start with 6 digits, give us a call and we can help estimate the age.
