You’ve already replaced the drain pump, door latch and striker, water level sensor and main control board, and cleaned the hoses, so we can rule out most of the usual causes. On a Whirlpool Duet front-loader like the WFW8740DW0, constant beeping during a cycle usually means the machine is trying to report a fault, or the control panel thinks a button is being pressed.

1. Look at the display while it beeps

Note exactly what the display shows. A code such as F21 / F2E1 (long drain), F8E1 / LO FL (no water), F5E1–F5E3 (door lock) or Sud (too many suds) points straight at the system to check. Codes can flash briefly between beeps, so watch for a minute. If you see Sud, use only HE detergent and less of it; this is a common cause of repeated alerts.

2. Check for a stuck button

If the beeping sounds like a button press (one short beep, repeated) and no code appears, the likely cause is the user interface (console) board, not the main control. On this washer, the buttons and display are on a separate board from the main control board you replaced. When a key on the touchpad sticks or moisture gets behind it, the washer “hears” that button over and over and beeps each time. Clues:

  • Settings change on their own during the cycle.
  • One button feels different or doesn’t click.
  • The beeping started after a spill on the panel or in a humid laundry room.

3. Rule out the cycle signal

Make sure the Cycle Signal or signal volume isn’t set to a mode that beeps at each stage, and that the beeping isn’t the end-of-cycle signal repeating because the door was not opened.

4. Check the replacement board

Some aftermarket or refurbished control boards aren’t set up for your exact model. A mismatched board can cause odd beeping and alerts. If the beeping started right after the 2021 board replacement, compare its part number with the one listed for WFW8740DW0.

If you see a specific code, send it as a follow-up through Ask a Technician and we can narrow it down further. Unplug the washer before removing the top or console panel.
