Thanks for the photo of the lower door corner. Water squirting out at both bottom corners during the wash, starting suddenly a few days ago, usually comes down to one of a few causes on GE dishwashers like the GDP670SGV1BB. Because it happens on both sides at once, start with the causes that affect the whole door rather than a single spot.

Check these first (no tools needed)

  1. Detergent and suds. If anyone used regular dish soap, too much rinse aid, or a new detergent in the last few days, foam can push water past the door seals at the corners. Run an empty rinse with a cup of white vinegar on the bottom rack, and use only automatic dishwasher detergent.
  2. Something blocking the door. Make sure no utensil, pan handle or the lower rack wheel is keeping the door from closing flat, and that the lower spray arm turns freely. A spray arm that hits a dish can blast water straight at the bottom of the door.
  3. Level. If the dishwasher tips forward, water pools against the door. Put a level on the open door or the tub floor; the unit should be level side to side and level or slightly tilted toward the back.

The usual parts

  • Lower door seal. GE dishwashers have a separate rubber strip along the bottom edge of the door, apart from the main gasket around the tub. When it hardens, tears or slips out of place, water escapes at both lower corners. This is the most common cause of the symptom you describe and an inexpensive part.
  • Tub gasket. Check the rubber gasket around the tub opening, especially the lower ends where it meets the bottom. If it has pulled out of its channel or is cracked, press it back in or replace it.
  • Door hinges and springs. Your photo shows the lower hinge area. If a door spring or hinge cable is broken or stretched, the door doesn’t press evenly against the seals. Open the door halfway and let go: it should stay put or rise slowly, not drop.

Protect the floor

Keep a towel under the door until it’s fixed. Water that runs under the dishwasher can damage cabinets and flooring before you see it. If you find water under the unit and not just at the door, the leak may be from a hose or pump instead, so have it checked.
