Hi Arathi, sorry you’re dealing with this. Before you pay anyone, it helps to know what that code actually means, because it changes what the repair costs.
What E07 means on your Bosch
Your SHPM78Z55N is an 800 Series with CrystalDry. That system dries dishes with a small fan and a container of zeolite minerals. On these models Bosch uses E07 for a fault in that drying fan. The fan might be blocked, its motor might have failed, or water might have reached it.
That fits what you’re seeing. The quick Rinse cycle never uses the drying system, so it finishes fine. A normal cycle runs the fan, hits the fault, and stops partway through. That’s why water is left sitting in the bottom. The pump probably isn’t clogged; the dishwasher just quit before it got to the drain step.
About the hole
I want to be sure we’re talking about the same part. If the hole is in the vent opening or housing on the inside wall that leads to the drying system, water can get into the fan through it and cause exactly this code. If it’s in the spray arm or the tube that feeds the upper arm, that’s a cheap part that snaps in, but on its own it wouldn’t cause E07. If you can, send us a photo through the form below and we’ll tell you for sure.
Try this first (free)
- Turn the dishwasher off at the breaker for at least 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Bosch lists this as the first step for E07.
- Run a normal cycle. If it finishes, the fault may have been a one-time glitch.
- If E07 comes back, the drying fan or its wiring needs to be checked.
What it usually costs
- Spray arm or feed tube with a hole: the part is usually $25–$70 and you can often replace it yourself.
- CrystalDry fan replaced: plan on roughly $250–$450 with parts and labor, depending on your area.
- Whole zeolite drying assembly: this is the expensive case and can come close to the price of a new mid-range dishwasher. A technician should test the fan first before you go there.
At 4–7 years old, an 800 Series is usually worth fixing for anything up to the fan. Bosch’s customer support line is 1-800-944-2904. It’s worth calling them with your serial number, because some parts carry longer coverage than the main warranty.
